SHEC has developed efficient solar reactor technology that works with its advanced solar collection technology. Heat is coupled from SHEC's solar receiver to a thermo chemical reactor that can be used to produce chemical substances. As one example, SHEC is able to use the waste gas emissions from the decay of bio-materials from sources such as landfills or agricultural waste. These waste gases consisting of methane and carbon dioxide can be transformed into synthesis gases or syngas. Syngas can be used to produce numerous substances such as ethanol, dimethyl either, hydrogen and other alternative fuels.
