Solar Photo Voltaic and Concentrating Solar Thermal Power Technologies have existed for decades. These technologies have traditionally been very expensive. Although the energy from the sun is free, the capital cost to build these systems has been much higher than conventional fossil fuel based energy systems.
SHEC's Advanced Solar Concentrator technology can be used to produce electricity using the sun to make steam to run steam turbines. SHEC's complementary Advanced Solar Receiver Technology reduces emissivity losses over competitive systems by a large margin, making the system more efficient and correspondingly reducing the cost of solar energy collection. This can be applied to heat engines such as Sterling engines to greatly improve overall system efficiency and reliability. SHEC's next generation Advanced Solar Concentrator technologies will further reduce the cost of solar energy collection, making solar technologies even more cost competitive. Finally this technology can be applied to amplified photo voltaics to reduce the amount of expensive semiconductor material with much less costly solar concentration technology.
